Prohibited Aquatic Invasive Species
Flowering rush: impedes distribution of irrigation water in canals, reduces water availability for water intake systems, interferes with boat propellers, swimming and fishing, impacts biodiversity, and impacts fish habitat.
In August we will be out on the river between the Alberta/Saskatchewan border and the Lancer ferry crossing.
The South Saskatchewan River Watershed Stewards (SSRWSI) are a non-profit organization working within the watershed to implement programs and initiatives that will protect the water resource.
SSRWSI have received 3 years of funding from Fisheries and Oceans Canada through the Habitat Stewardship Program to continue surveying for occurrences and implementing an eradication plan.
Sask Energy again has provided funding for this project.
To report a sighting contact the watershed at 306-460-4987.
